La terza generazione

THE THIRD GENERATION

On January 9, 1991, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Tonino Lamborghini’s first son, is born in Bologna, Italy. Together with his four sisters, he belongs to the third generation of the Lamborghini family. «The company founded by my father and inspired by our family values represents an important symbol of Italian design and innovation since 1981. My grandfather and my father have been both admirable innovators in their related business fields. Today, as spokesperson of the Lamborghini family’s third generation, I am proud to add a new shape to the company started by my father, with a different and more international edge. A transition that will require important investments, both of money and time, but that will lead the brand towards a more innovative, smart and international level» – Ferruccio Lamborghini, VP and CEO.
Today, Tonino Lamborghini is assisted by his first son Ferruccio, who carries his grandfather’s name and is vice-president and CEO of the company. A future that does not forget its past, but represents a source of strength and inspiration. The story now comes full circle.
Tonino Lamborghini and Ferruccio Lamborghini embody the brand’s DNA and are spokespersons of the company’s marketing objectives.

A PASSION FOR HIGH SPEED

Ferruccio has not only inherited his grandfather’s name, but also his passion for motorcycles and high speed. During his early age, he has beenbike rider for ten years: after three years on mini bikes (he finished the season in 2005 as European vice-champion), in 2006 he switches to motorcycles joining the Aprilia Trophy and wins second place.

In 2007, he debuts in the 125 GP Italian Championship and participates in four Gran Prix as a wildcard on an Aprilia. In 2008, he places third at the Italian Championship (C.I.V.) and runs the Italian Grand Prix in the 125 class on an Aprilia RS 125 R as a wildcard for the Junior GP Racing Dream team. In 2009, he becomes Italian vice-champion in the 600 Stock category with a Yamaha YZF R6 of the Media Action by Pro Race team and he also runs three races of the European Championship obtaining seven points, two pole positions and a faster round, graduating as under 21 European vice champion in the 600 Stock category. In 2010 he wins third place in the Sport 600 Italian Championship and participates in five races in the Mondo Moto 2 Championship. In 2011 he is mainly involved in the Campionato Italiano Velocità (C.I.V.), placing seventh place in the Moto 2 category and participates also in four races of the 1000 Superstock FIM Cup with a Honda CBR1000RR of the Ten Kate Junior team. He continues to race in the Moto 2 del C.I.V. also in 2012 graduating as Italian champion with a motorbike prepared by the Ten Kate team and brought to the track by the Quarantaquattro Racing team. In 2014 he lands eighth place in the Stock 600 Italian Championship and ultimately decides to leave the races until season 2019 that sees his comeback at the C.I.V. in the Supersport 600 class after almost five years of absence thanks to an agreement with the Full Moto Squadra Corse team that assigns him a Yamaha R6.

«What a great feeling to be able to say that I am competing again! I will do it for fun and, naturally, for passion. Let’s not get things mixed up, my job is and will always be another one, but since being a motorcycle racer is the most exciting game I have ever played, I am ready to get back on the rides of this fascinating playground. I can’t wait! » – exclaimed Ferruccio before starting the 2019 Championship.

A WRITTEN DESTINY

Since Ferruccio was very young, his father has always involved him in the business affairs and important decisions of the family company. For Ferruccio it has always been clear that the Tonino Lamborghini company would have become his future career path and destiny. In 2015, he takes his first steps in the company by assisting the marketing department and participating to all the executive meetings with precise goals: to learn all there is to know from staff members, to enrich his competences in all business-related areas and to help his father in public relations activities and other strategic opportunities.

In April 2016, following the natural generational progression of the family company and thanks to its successful results, Ferruccio is nominated vice-president of the Tonino Lamborghini SpA. After being directly involved in all operational and strategic activities within the company, his entrepreneurial spirit and passion to improve the family’s business are rewarded in 2018 when he is nominated C.E.O.

For Ferruccio this is only the beginning. Indeed, shortly after, he becomes part of the board of directors of TL International Inc., the joint venture between Tonino Lamborghini SPA and Dasan Network (global leader within the Korean technology) that aims at creating premium devices branded Tonino Lamborghini. In December of the same year, he signs a joint venture with Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions Ltd (Indian company belonging to one of the most important and respected Indian automotive groups of the Firodia family) for the development and production of golf carts and electric vehicles branded Tonino Lamborghini.

In his new role as C.E.O. and Vice-President of the company, Ferruccio continues to churn out major projects and collaborations. In 2019, the Art Glass capsule is born in co-branding with the historic Italian company Venini. Vases, lamps and spectacular chandeliers reinterpret the mechanical heritage of the Tonino Lamborghini brand through the ancient techniques of Murano glass making.

Among the latest company projects followed entirely by Ferruccio is the Tonino Lamborghini Swiss Watches collection. Together with the Italian designer Fulvio Locci and a historic Swiss haute horlogerie manufacturer, Ferruccio Lamborghini has created new automatic models in the medium-high range to complement the best-selling quartz chronographs in a more accessible position. Strictly Swiss made and with a bold design, the new watches are characterised by manufacturing research, ergonomics and performance thanks to titanium components, sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment, Torx® screws and racing elements.

In 2019, Ferrucio Lamborghini also established Lamborghini Sangue di Miura as a joint venture with Umbrian winery Tenuta Lamborghini, which is advised by one of Italy's most celebrated oenologists, Riccardo Cottarella. This initiative marks a more active involvement of the family in the business of wines produced by the Tenuta, founded in 1968 by Tonino's father.

In 2021, four decades after its founding, the history of Tonino Lamborghini S.p.A. will spill over into the pages of the book "Tonino Lamborghini Over the Years. 1981-2021", a project conceived and personally supervised by Ferruccio Lamborghini, who dedicated the book to his father. A book printed in a limited edition of 500 copies, literally born "under the sign of the Bull", in which the historic collections are portrayed as works of art to be celebrated and the inexhaustible curiosity and eclecticism of the founder is celebrated, which allowed the brand to range over different product sectors.
Following in his father's footsteps (and his grandfather's before him), Ferruccio Lamborghini today carries forward, head held high, the vision of a future firmly rooted in family heritage, combining his father's teachings and family tradition with his own instinct as a driver and attention to every single detail.
